Isolationismus, Integrationismus und die Klimakrise als strukturelle Ungerechtigkeit

Abstract

Inwiefern hängt die Klimakrise mit anderen globalen und intergenerationalen Gerechtigkeitsfragen zusammen? Dieser Artikel diskutiert diese Frage anhand der von Simon Caney eingeführten Unterscheidung zwischen Isolationismus und Integrationismus. Während Isolationist:innen dafür argumentieren, die Klimakrise als abgegrenztes Phänomen isoliert zu betrachten, entgegnen Integrationist:innen, dass dies die Ungerechtigkeiten der Klimakrise falsch charakterisiert. Klimagerechtigkeit müsse also im Kontext verstanden werden. Der Artikel erarbeitet jeweils zwei Varianten des Isolationismus (theoretisch und pragmatisch) und des Integrationismus (moderat und radikal) und argumentiert, dass beide Ansätze vor zentralen Herausforderungen hinsichtlich ihrer die konzeptionellen Konturen stehen. Dem gegenüber stelle ich Ansätze, die die Klimakrise als strukturelle Ungerechtigkeit im Sinne Iris M. Youngs verstehen. Ich argumentiere, dass ein solcher Ansatz zum einen die Kritik am Isolationismus untermauern kann und zum anderen eine Form des Integrationismus darstellt, der die konzeptionellen Grenzen der Klimagerechtigkeit präziser und produktiver fasst.

To what extent is the climate crisis linked to other global and intergenerational justice issues? This article discusses this question using the distinction between isolationism and integrationism introduced by Simon Caney. While isolationists argue that the climate crisis should be viewed as a separate phenomenon, integrationists counter that this misrepresents the injustices of the climate crisis. Climate justice must be understood in context. The article develops two variants of isolationism (theoretical and pragmatic) and two variants of integrationism (moderate and radical) and argues that both approaches face key challenges in terms of their conceptual contours. I contrast these with approaches that understand the climate crisis as structural injustice based on the work of Iris M. Young. I argue that such an approach can, on the one hand, substantiate the criticism against isolationism and, on the other hand, represents a form of integrationism that captures the conceptual limits of climate justice more precisely and productively.
